This week, we had the opportunity to interview Dadhichi M. Toth, Founder and CEO of astrology.com.au, one of the best astrology websites on the internet. Dadhichi spoke about his beginnings, and how his approach to astrology is different from what the competition has to offer.
What was the inspiration for founding your company?
Dadhichi Toth: It all started when I was 8 years old – My mother would tell me stories about Linda Goodman, a famous astrologer from the 1960s. My mother was very interested in astrology, and my bed stories were all about Leo, Virgo, and the other star signs so I really started to gain interest in astrology. In more recent times, around 30 years ago, I had the honor of meeting the great professor Ramakrishna Sarathy from India, who was a brilliant astrologer. He was truly gifted, and I spent quite a few years trying to get him to teach me and share his knowledge with me. It took me around 6-7 years of his visiting Australia, for him to realize I was an avid student of Vedic Astrology. He finally agreed to start teaching me.
My work was greatly inspired by him, and I can say that I am generally inspired only by genuine psychic readers, not the ones that read a couple of astrology books and believe they are the greatest psychics in the business! Astrology isn’t something you learn overnight. Even after 37 years of experience, I can say that I am still learning, practicing, and researching.
How does your company stand out from the competition?
DT: If you type the word “astrology” in your Google browser, you will most likely come across a huge number of different astrology websites. Just as with any other business, the big question is how are you going to differentiate yourself from the other competitors?
As the old saying goes – you can’t beat your competitors on their own strengths. With all the competition in my early years, I was forced to do something different in order to make my way to the top. I have always studied human beings. The first thing that I started doing differently to other online businesses and companies was face readings. The second thing is that apart from being a western astrologer, I have experience with Vedic or Hindu astrology, which diversifies your knowledge. I believe that the Vedic astrology system is far more accurate than the western one. By blending Western astrology, Vedic astrology, and face reading, you bring something new to the table. You’re offering a brand new approach to astrology.
What is the most popular type of reading that customers are looking for? What are the most common concerns they have?
DT: The most requested readings are the usual ones, such as love, relationships, and health. However, there are others who are interested in true astrology. This is genetically mapping the DNA and linking it to the stellar positions and planets. I look at the person as a fractal, a subset of the bigger universe. I’m always interested in their spiritual progress. It is very important to understand the horoscope, and that understanding is a ticket to a deeper, more meaningful experience of who you really are.
What is the most important detail in maintaining a relationship of mutual trust with customers?
DT: The most important thing in maintaining a relationship of mutual trust with customers is going the extra mile. What we provide is a service. It’s not just important to do the one hour reading and get it over with it. Vedic astrology is remedial. I am always trying to resolve the issue the client is having. I always strive to help them fix their problems. That’s the real value of astrology that western followers of astrology are mostly unaware of.
How has the COVID-19 pandemic affected the way business is done in this industry?
DT: Since our readings are mostly provided online in a PDF format, we didn’t really face too much trouble when COVID-19 kicked in. I haven’t done many face to face for almost a decade. They are usually done via the Internet anyhow. So for me personally, the virus outbreak didn’t change anything, except for the fact that I’m now even busier than before!
I generally think that the lockdown isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Staying inside is not only important for social distancing – it allows us to go within ourselves, and learn more about our true selves.
How has your company in particular adapted to the new conditions during the pandemic?
DT: It’s going much better now actually! We’ve had a few rough years where we nearly lost our business, as we hired companies who didn’t have a good enough understanding of the complexity of our business. We used to be number one worldwide for 3-4 years, until all the new Google algorithms kicked in. Now it’s become a lot more competitive than before. I expect that in 2021, we will have some brand new things to present, and I’m extremely excited about that!
